Sneakers love

December 27, 2013

I think you might have seen these on my Instagram... no?

When I first got them, most of my friends were like... "Your shoes are awesome! Are they Valentino?"
And then one person on the street asked... "Cool trainers. Margiela, right?"
I was like "no waaaaay, they're Asos" To be honest it's a bit awkward when random people ask things like that. But, never mind...

Well, these sneakers were one of my Christmas gifts. They're super comfortable and I'm just so in love with them... hmmm, why do I always fall in love with all my stuff? Ugh, I think I need help. And to be honest, I'm into this whole 'sneakers trend' right now...

Do you like sneakers? What are your favorites?

Winter Inspiration

December 23, 2013

Hello there!!

Yeahh, I know I haven't been the best at keeping this blog up. So, please forgive me. The thing is that there's not much going on right now and I'm trying to create as much original content as possible.

Well, as you can see, I did a bit of a re-design here. Nothing big, but I like it and I think it looks a bit cleaner than before, no? Well, that's the result of sleepless nights and 6 (ok, maybe 7) mugs of coffee a day. I know right!

I personally think they look amazing on her. Not everyone can pull off shoes like these! What do you think?

The Artists' Market

December 02, 2013

Last weekend, I went with my friend Sarah to the Artists' Market of San Francisco de Macorís, which is a town in the North of the country. We had quite an adventure, I have to say. We spent like one and a half hour on the bus to get there.

Anyway, remember Isis? Yeah, the super talented photographer. She's the one that came with the idea, and she organizes everything. There's art, music, books, fashion, food... Everything! Amazing, isn't it?

Unfortunately, we had to go a bit early, but I honestly can't wait for the next Market, I bet it will be as good as this one, maybe even better! :)

Claudia's shoes

November 28, 2013

These are the shoes that Claudia wore for the photoshoot. Well, the truth is, they actually belong to her mother. Funny, no?

But now, here's the question... Is this some kind of trend? Suddenly I've seen this type of Derby shoes everywhere, especially on fashion blogs. And let me tell you, I think it's very interesting when there's menswear inspiration in women's fashion. What do you think about them?

Here's a picture of a shoot I did with my friend Claudia last week. You can see the whole shoot here.

As you may notice, I'm also playing a little bit with the colors on Potoshop. I'm trying to give different vibe to my photos. What do you think?

The brush

November 26, 2013

Hello!

I'm sorry for being so absent these days. I'm not getting very inspired at the moment, and I just don't know why. I wanted to let you know that I'm well and I'm trying to do my best to keep this blog updated.

Meanwhile, here's a photo of my coffee, and an illustration I did with my new Prismacolor brush pen, I've had it for 4 days now and I love it!! I'm glad that Judith gave me a few tips on how to use it. To be honest I was a bit uncomfortable at the beginning, but now it feels very natural.

Well... Dear illustrator friends, have you ever tried using a brush pen? Do you like it?

Sarah again...

November 13, 2013

Hey guys!

First of all, I want to apologize for the lack of posting. My computer suddenly stopped working, but it's all good now. Thanks for being patient!

Well okay, to be honest, I haven't done much in the last few days. Just a bit of drawing, writing and thinking about new ideas for this blog.
Remember my friend Sarah? I met her the other day to talk about a new project that we have in mind. I think you're going to love it... Stay tuned!

My rules of style / pt.1

October 30, 2013

Disclaimer: I'm not a fashion dictator, and no, I don't want to be a stylist either. This series of posts is supposed to help you find your style and make it personal, I guess (?)

So, let me tell you something. In the past, I used to buy a lot of stuff. Really, stupid things like destroyed denim and all that (yup, sorry). And now, I have to say, my style has evolved a little bit. Okay, it has evolved a lot actually.

I've learned a lot of things recently, so I'll be happy to share them with you. I call them 'my rules of style'...

Quitasueño Studios

October 28, 2013

After talking a lot about it and uploading photos to Instagram , it's finally time to show you some pictures of my visit to the film set I told you about!

So, last month I was invited to this Studio, to see a little preview of the set and how everything was going to be organized for the film. I still can't believe it. I felt so honored to be there and just talk about how things were going to be. Ahhh..
To be honest, I love taking pictures of interiors and all that. So when I entered there, I kind of felt like I was in heaven. No, really. The set was very organized, very bohemian and well designed. I loved it.

Sadly, I can't talk about the movie right now but let me tell you something, it's going to be awesomeee. Ohh, I'm thinking about making a short film right now, what do you think?

Let's talk about Instagram...

October 22, 2013

Ahh, Instagram... The wonderful app to share photos of your meals daily life with people from all around the world. It's amazing and we all love it, no? I've been using it a lot lately, it's a little bit addictive.

I mean it's really useful when you don't feel like carrying your camera.
It's also great to keep up with people you admire (photographers, editors, etc.) and a really great way to get inspired.

October 17, 2013

You know what? I actually have a lot of shirts. And let me tell you, most of them... are plaid.

Yeah, yeah. I've always been so in love with plaid shirts. I mean we all love them, right? For me, they're some kind of uniform, I don't know why but I can't stop wearing them all the time!

The (unexpected) Interview

October 16, 2013

Ok. First of all, I don't know exactly how this happened...

Remember when I worked at an advertising agency? (Ohh, my illustrations have changed a lot since that!) Well, yesterday I went to another agency for a job interview. Let me tell you how it was...

Geraldine

October 14, 2013

This is Geraldine!

Let me tell you the truth... I met her for the first time on the weekend. She's so beautiful, and there's definitely some kind of mystery about her.

I wanted to take a picture because she's got such a nice style and she's so graceful and such a nice person. When I first asked for the picture, I was a little bit shy. But, when I talked with her, I realized how fun and cool she is.

Weekend diaries / Jarabacoa

Hello!

This weekend was my uncle's 50th birthday. We had a great time. As you can see, it was a cowboy party. Yeahh, I know. I loved it, I got to see a lot of members from my family that I hadn't seen in a while.

We laughed, we drank, and we danced.

Ohh well... what else can I say? I'll leave you with some photos, click on the arrows for more!

Military... Seen at the 27th Biennal of Visual Arts

As I told you, I was hypnotized with all the beautiful art that I saw at the 27th Biennial of Visual Arts.

Okay, let me tell you. This is one of my favorite artworks from the Biennial.

I love it. Remember when we talked about the camo trend? Well, this immediatly reminded me of this when I saw it. And you know what? The red and grey details also remind me of the Valentino Spring 2013 collection. Don't you think?

The only thing is, I forgot the artist's name, ugh. Well anyway... What do you think? Do you like it?

On the Street... Aisha Syed.

October 10, 2013

Ahh, I'm so lucky!!

Have you heard about Aisha Syed, the super cool violinist? I'm sure you have! Well ok, if you haven't, let me tell you a bit about her...

She's a 24 year old talented violinist from my country (Dominican Republic). She has won a lot of international contests and she has performed 57 concerts in Europe and my country. That's pretty awesome, don't you think?

So, I was leaving the Biennial and when I came out, she was outside, practicing for a performance she had that night. It sounded so incredibly astonishing, it gave me goose bumps! When I asked if I could take a picture of her, she kindly said yes and was very happy.

I'm so glad I met her, she's such a nice, beautiful and talented person.

A book I love / Los Cuadernos

The perfect fit.

We've talked about this piece already. Yeaaaaah, I know... The truth is, I'm kind of a sucker for jeans.

Why do I love jeans so much? Let me tell you, they're such a timeless piece, you can wear them with anything. A pair of jeans are like someone's best friends or something, no?

But... How exactly should you take care of this beloved item? And, how do you find the perfect fit for your body type? Well, right now, I'm about to share with you some things I've learned from my grandpa when it comes about jeans...

The Sunglasses

October 07, 2013

These are Paulette's sunglasses. Cool, no?

When I asked her where she got them, she told me she found them at her grandma's house and they belonged to her aunt. That's even cooler, right? She told me how full of joy she was, and I totally get it!

I also love finding things that once belonged to members of my family, like my dad's Persol, remember?

What about you? I mean, I'm sure you've found something awesome at your grandma's house. Tell me about it!

Lately...

October 03, 2013

Hey!

First, I'm sorry for the lack of posting... It's not easy to post everyday when you don't have enough content to share. But now, I think I have the right amount!

So let me tell you, I just came back from the beach (well, I actually came back on Sunday, but whatever...) and despite my SPF 500+, I've managed to get a tan. Seriously, my skin was so red that it hurt like f*ck... Thank god it's going away now.

Anyway, I'll post some pictures from the beach this weekend. Meanwhile, I'll tell you a bit of what's going on right now.

My Sketchbook

September 25, 2013

Yeaaaah, I finally have a new sketchbook!!

I mean, it's been a while since I last had one, you know? So, I've been on this eternal search for the perfect one. My moleskine sketchbook was fine but I think I filled it so quickly, I needed more. That's why I've been looking for one that's a little bigger and with more sheets.

When I found this, I thought it was the right one. Black, the perfect size and the right number of sheets. And guess what?! I've been sketching every day, it's like I can't stop now!

Well, enough said! Let's take a look at some of the things I've done so far...

Paulette / Hostos St.

September 23, 2013

Here's another photo of my friend Paulette!

I have to tell you something, Paulette is such a nice friend! She has Italian origins and believe it or not, we share the same passion for images and good music (it's very difficult to find someone with the same interests as me).

Last Friday we went to her grandma's house as I told you, to do a little bit of exploring around the Colonial Zone. I loved her look, but then the weather started being a bitch so she had to take her sweater off. Thank God I had the chance to take a picture!

Weekend Diaries XIV

September 21, 2013

Hey there!

Yesterday I went to the Colonial Zone of my country and here are some of the pictures I told you I was going to take. It was quite a good day and I actually loved it!

I went there with my friend Paulette and we walked like never before, seriously. I got there at 11 am and we visited a lot of places. We discovered a lot of new places and it was great. So, let me tell you a little bit about the exploring day that was....

1

On the Street... Sarah.

September 20, 2013

This is my friend Sarah. I met with her yesterday to discuss a project that we have in mind. Sadly, we ended making jokes and watching vine videos the whole afternoon, ahh. I can't help it, that always happens when I see my friends.

I loved the way she looked. I think the orange trousers, the bi-color cardigan and that print blouse worked perfect together. Sarah has always been a very stylish person and the best thing is that she doesn't try so hard. And I have to say, that's always what I'm looking for when I'm taking photographs.

The only bad thing is that the sky turned cloudy and that's why the photos have some kind of grey tone. But I think it looks nice at the same time.

Right now she's studying advertising (like I will) and she told me it's a whole different world. She has to do a lot of things now, from editing videos to taking pictures and drawing, something that she never liked and now she's actually kind of enjoying it. Now she's got her pencils all the time with her, and I think that's so cool!
She even showed me some of her sketches and I have to say, they're pretty good. I'll probably post them here or on instagram anytime soon. She also told me that the students are a bit crazy, but in a nice way and the teachers are pretty cool too.

The only thing that she told me that's not really awesome is the virtual class. She doesn't really love to send her homework via internet. But oh, well... what can I say?

And that's it. That's what happening in Sarah's life right now. Sounds interesting, no?

Changing the subject a little bit... Today I'll be taking more and more photographs (not only street style), I'm very excited! I seriously can't wait to see what I find on the streets :)

What about you? Are you doing anything interesting today? Let me know!

The lazy update

September 19, 2013

I said I'd write it soon or later. And here it is, the lazy update.

Lately I'm waking up late and I'm spending hours drawing (in order to get better) as I said before, and blah blah. That's my life right now, probably sounds perfect but it's not.

I'd probably go out sometimes with my friends, watch movies, take some street style photos. But that's it. I'm getting used to go out a lot these days.

Summer Reign

September 17, 2013

The sun, the hot weather... ahh it feels like summer will never end.

I mean, it's so hot I'm about to melt. It's somehow annoying. That's why yesterday, I decided to wear this outfit. It's decent and comfortable enough to work in the heat (I was on a film set yesterday, I know, I know!! we'll talk about it soon).

Everything's from Zara. The trousers are so comfortable, I've been wearing them a lot lately and the polo shirt is very light and I think that makes it perfect. But honestly I can't wait for fall, even though there's not a huge difference between seasons in my country, the weather just gets a bit better. I have to say, I love summer but I've had enough for this year.

And speaking of summer... The super cool band Coastal Cities released this song a few days ago and I'm totally in love with it. It's just perfect, and I don't know why but for me it feels like a sunset (I'm so weird) Okay, enough. Here's the song, I hope you like it!

On the Street... Claudia.

September 16, 2013

Remember Claudia? Well, last friday I was walking by the seminary that's near my house to find a bit of inspiration and just to clear my mind, and then I suddenly found her. Thank God I always have my camera with me, she seemed so serene ( and the light + her outfit were perfect) I just had to take her picture.

She was so quiet, reading her book. When I asked her why she was there, she told me that the seminary was the best place to find peace and it allows her to concentrate on her reading or whatever she's doing.

I think that's great. I actually don't have a place where I can go to read or something like that. What about you? Do you have one? Tell me about it!

1

My illustrations

Yeah, it's super late (12:56 am). I already know that.

I just wanted to share some of my 'real' illustrations with you, nope, not the ones that I've done with my Graphics tablet.

I mean, you probably know that I have a lot of free time lately. And for me, free time means actually drawing. Yes, with color pencils, charcoal pencils and all that. I actually bought my pen tablet because back then I didn't have much time to draw when I was in my senior year. I had all those crazy and neverending assignments.

And now, it's totally the opposite, I feel so free to just do whatever I want. I never thought I would actually spend so much time doing something that I love so much. Oh well, I'll tell you more about my lazy days in another post. Time to sleep now!

I was eating ice cream the other day and immediately wanted to take a picture of this girl. She's got a very nice style, kind of tomboy but still very feminine. I like it a lot! It's just too bad that I forgot to ask her name... Oh well.

What do you think? do you like it?

Wishlist #3: The jacket

September 03, 2013

A few weeks ago, I talked about what I'd like to wear this fall. Well, remember when I told you that I was looking for a varsity jacket? I think I've found it.

Believe me, that's definitely the only piece one of the pieces I need from the Saint Laurent collection for this season.

August 28, 2013

Hey there!

Guys, you probably know I'm supposed to start university today. Yeah, finally, the most anticipated step.

The only thing is... ahh, how can I say it? I won't start today, nor tomorrow. In fact, I will start next year (exactly in January) WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH YOU? ALL THAT EXCITEMENT FOR NOTHING? you must be asking, okay okay, calm down... Just let me explain you.
